Here are a few brief examples of my poetry for your reading and listening enjoyment. May you read what you like and like what you read...

Up On The Roof

Up On The Rooftop

Perched upon the roof

Of their family’s suburban,

triple fronted brick veneer houses

Darlene and Rhonda could see

Out across the neighbourhood

-A passing parade of assorted souls,

Pigeons and parkland

Underwear flapping on clotheslines,

Including Mrs Padgett’s giant knickers.

They gazed upon pelicans gliding above the bay

And the town hall flag flopping in the breeze

And as the sunset slid into the sea

They believed they could see everything

Everything that is

But their own futures,

These were not included.

Meltdown

Meltdown

My sister

Threw a tantrum once…

It struck the wall

Bounced down the stairs

And knocked the cat over.

How To Love Autumn

How To Love Autumn

Make time in your day to watch fallen leaves

dance and skitter

On the wind’s command

Walk slowly in the soft, precious sunlight

of mellow lit afternoons

Savour the late bounty of slow ripening fruit

striving to reach maturity in faltering warmth

Wrap yourself in your favourite scarf,

Your bestest boots

And amble through the park in the crisp, misty air

of morning

Toss leaves in celebration of the season

Greet the undressed trees with good grace

thankful for the summer shade they gifted

Wish them well as they shut down for winter.
