REVIEW- Notebook Notions
'Have you ordered Alan Wright's latest book yet? One not to be missed if you are either 'a Teacher who Writes or a Writer who Teaches', or both! This is the review I put on all the sites that are selling the book - look for it on Fishpond, Booktopia, Amazon, Barnes and Noble...
I have just finished devouring “Notebook Notions”, the latest gift to the world of writing from Alan J Wright, and loved it.
Reading this book is akin to sitting in a wonderful, warm café, having an inspiring conversation with the writer and teacher you aspire to be. Alan’s stories of his own writing life and his sage advice on sharing that writing life with young authors are engaging and reflective. His words provide the perfect connection between what writers in the real world do and how writing teachers can harness the power of this to guide and mentor their students.
At the end of each chapter, Alan invites us to “consider…” and provides a practical suggestion, many of which would be ideal mini lessons, conference strategies or spotlight (unit of study) foci – his mentorship of writing teachers apparent throughout.
I will be recommending this book to all of the writers and teachers I work with. It is full of practical wisdom, relatable anecdotes and gentle nudges for us all to connect with our inner writers and then use that connection to become better teachers.'
